- Statement of Commitment
Louis Kisitu is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection. Whether through coaching, mentoring, school-based work or online engagement, the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable individuals is paramount.
This policy sets out the expectations, procedures and responsibilities that underpin all safeguarding activities connected to the services delivered via this platform or through ImpactBridge outreach programmes.
- Scope of Policy
This policy applies to all:
- 1-on-1 and group mentoring sessions
- Online and in-person coaching or courses
- Youth programmes and school-based consultancy
- Digital communication and content delivery
- Volunteers, associates and any affiliated mentors working under the ImpactBridge umbrella
- Key Safeguarding Principles
- The safety and wellbeing of all children and young people is a shared responsibility.
- All children, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, ability, or sexual orientation have the right to protection from harm.
- All concerns, disclosures, or suspicions must be taken seriously and acted upon promptly and appropriately.
- We will always act in the best interests of the child or young person.
- Safe Engagement Standards
Online Sessions and Coaching
- All online sessions with young people are conducted via secure platforms (e.g., Zoom) with appropriate parental or school consent.
- A parent or carer must be informed of 1-on-1 mentoring sessions with individuals under 18.
- Where possible, group sessions or supervision structures are used to protect both young people and the mentor.
Data Protection
- All personal information is collected, stored and used in accordance with GDPR and the site’s Privacy Policy.
- Data regarding minors is only collected with parental or institutional consent.
School-Based and External Work
- All in-school work is conducted with formal agreements, risk assessments and DBS-compliant practices.
- Where Louis Kisitu or associated mentors engage with schools, current enhanced DBS checks are held and renewed regularly.
- Responding to Concerns
All safeguarding concerns or disclosures will be handled in line with these principles:
- Listen without judgement. Remain calm, supportive and neutral.
- Do not promise confidentiality. Explain you must share the information with someone who can help.
- Record accurately. Write down what was said as soon as possible using the individual’s own words.
- Report promptly. Concerns will be reported to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) if it occurs in a school context or referred to appropriate services if outside an institutional setting.
If there is immediate danger, emergency services will be contacted.
